Living with them was Margaret Lennant, 25, a dairy maid. Wife Jean and children Alexander & Robert were not with them. Robert was living with his mother’s bother William’s family. Notes for Alexander (Spouse 1)
Alexander not Robert! In 1851 Elizabeth Lockhart was a servant in the household of Alexander Pollock. Elizabeth gave birth to a daughter Elizabeth circa 1855 and this daughter with surname Pollock was living with her father Alexander according to the 1861 census. This suggests that the name Robert, as recorded on Elizabeth Pollock’s marriage to Thomas McBride, is incorrect and it should be Alexander and this is supported by the Death record of Elizabeth McBride which states she was illegitimate.
