Notes for Christopher Parkinson THWEAT
CHRISTOPHER PARKISSON (Parkinson) THWEAT lived with his father in Burnden Street, Bolton in 1841. Their surname was recorded as Thwaites in this census.

Christopher’s second name, Parkinson comes from another old family in Bolton-le-Moors.

He arrived in Australia as an immigrant 4 Dec 1841 on the “Columbine”.
The person writing out the forms on the ship has changed spelling of surname from Thweat to Thwaite as had the person who filled in the 1841 census. Immigration record gives his occupation as “ farm labourer”.
He married Maria Wiseman (1st marriage for Maria) 3 Oct 1842 at Scots Church (Presbyterian) in Sydney by John Dunmore Lang.

It is not known when or where he died, but one account said he had left to go to the goldfields at the time of the Eureka stockade and it is felt he may have died there. The Eureka Stockade was in December 1854 after Maria Wiseman had remarried which would mean either he and Maria have parted or he was already dead at the time of her second marriage in May 1854. The Victorian deaths were searched but no record of his death was found in that colony and there is no record of his death in New South Wales.
Notes for Maria (Spouse 1)
Maria was born 1822 in Blackburn Lancashire and died 5 Oct 1891 in Goulburn.
According to immigration record Maria couldn’t read or write ( in 1842).
