Another John?

A John Savell was baptism 14 Jul 1716 but no father was recorded and as John & Mary already had a son John and no evidence is recorded that John, born ca 1711, had died prior to 1716 it is highly probable that this latter John was not their son.

William Savill
A William Savill was baptised 6 Dec 1719 and his father was recorded as John Junior. This could be a son of John & Mary if in fact there was another John senior, either the father of John (ca 1693) or a brother of his father.

There was a William Savil who was buried Radwinter, St Mary the Virgin on 20 NOV 1721. Could this be this William and may be John & Mary’s son. There was another William who died in 1760 but his parents were John (John junior perhaps) and Ann, not Mary.

Possible forbear
There was a Catherine Savil (baptism 23Oct1660 - burial 17Jul1664) and Henry Savel (baptism25May1664). Their parents were Samuel & Mary. Perhaps if Henry married, circa 1685, it is quite possible this John, born before 1693, was his son.

A widower Robert Onion married a Mary Savill 17OCT 1721. Mary might have also been a sister of this John.

A Mary Savill was born 29AUg1722 whose father was Robert. Robert again was likely to be a brother of John.

Radwinter Parish Records

The quality of the parish record varies over the years and often little detail is given. Sometime both parents are mentioned for baptisms and sometimes spouse for deaths but often nothing. Entries entered here from the Radwinter Parish are considered most likely to be correct however certainty is not 100%.

Note: No facts known to suggest marriage could have been in Thaxted rather than Radwinter as this is only marriage found between a John Savill and Mary at a suitable date.

Children of John & Mary

The children included are most likely theres but it is quite possible there was another couple Mary & John Savill.

The spelling variation of Savill or Savell may be a clue to different parentage but more likely reflects the spelling of the recorder.
