Also staying there were George Hawkes,25 & Harry Hawkes, 21, brother-in-laws and George Dorking, 24, a nephew. It is likely that George & Harry Hawkes relate via Emma’s mother Sarah who married a Jonathan Hawkes in 1848 four years after Emma’s birth. Sarah would have been only 15 when Emma was born.

The only birth registration near Emma’s birth date was a Jane Bennewith in Rochford Q1 1846 [vol 12 page 203]. As Emma’s mother appeared to be only 15 & single, at time of birth, perhaps Emma’s birth was not registered.
