MemoFrom 1891 census however the 1971 census of 2nd April gives age of 9 weeks which suggest he was born last week of January 1871 so his registration would be at the earliest the first quarter of 1871. This census also gives his birth place as Goldshaw Booth not Pendle Forest, however both locations are within 3 kilometres of each other and both were in the Burnley registration district. The only birth of a John Clayton in Burnley in 1871 was in the September quarter which seems a little late for this John but as nothing more suitable has been found this is the registry entry quoted.
