Notes for Martin THOMAS
If died in New Zealand a possible death is reg 1881/4502 Thomas, Martin Harvey age=46Y, born circa 1835.
Notes for Hannah Maria (Spouse 1)
When Hannah arrived in Melbourne, in 1853, the town was only 18 years old. The colony of Victoria was established only 2 years before and didn’t become self governing until 1855. This was a period of rapid population growth caused mainly caused by the discovery of gold in 1851.

Hannah’s marriage to Richard Huckle apparently ended when she left for New Zealand. No children of this marriage have been found.

Perhaps Hannah like many others who had not found fortune in the Victorian gold fields went to Otago, New Zealand where a gold rush occurred from 1861 to 1864.
