Notes for Lily (Spouse 1)
Lily was adopted by Mary, Walter’s first wife to replace a child she had circa 1873. This child (sex unknown) died when rolled on in bed by Mary, possibly caused by the fact that Mary was too fond of wine. Walter had been in South America and Mary didn’t tell Walter Lily was not his daughter until just before her death in 1894.

As Mary had never registered either her first child or adopted Lily, Walter registered Lily as Daisy Elizabeth Bailey with a birth date of 26 May 1875 in Swansea.

After Mary’s death and Walter now knowing Daisy [Lily] was not his daughter, Walter and Lily eventually married in Aden.
