Notes for John STOCK
John was not married at time of 1851 census so he was not the John Stock who married Emma Firmin in 1850. It is possible he married Mary Ann Tappenden, who was from Margate in Kent, in June Quarter of 1852 [vol 1B page 258] although this Mary Ann was a widow in 1871 and the age of John in 1861 census of 23 is 5 years too young, perhaps it should have been 28 as a son john was eight in 1861. There are a number of deaths of John Stock in the 1860’s in London area that could be Mary Ann’s husband.
An alternative is the death of John Stock, registered Braintree in September quarter of 1860 [vol 4A page 165] perhaps this is the right John.
