Notes for John Frederick (Spouse 1)
John Frederick lived with his grandparents and his grandfather Eli is recorded as his father, on John’s marriage to Clara Newman. In the 1871 census John Frederick, aged 7 months is with grandparents Eli and Sarah Doe as is there daughter Emma, who is single. A possibly conclusion would be that John Frederick was a child of Emma. John Frederick is also living with his grandparents in the 1881 census but Emma is no longer present and as Emma hasn’t been found after 1871 it is likely she died before 1881. A death that fits has been found in 1880 and highly likely to be her.

In the 1891 census John Frederick lived with George, a son of Eli and Sarah and brother of Emma, and is recorded as a brother of George this suggests his father was William and mother Ann This would mean Emma was an Aunt not mother. I think it likely that George considered John Frederick to be “like a brother”

In addition to above Emma is the middle name of John Frederick & Clara’s daughter Winifred, perhaps this is a pointer that Emma was John Frederick’s mother.

All above factors considered I have concluded that John Frederick was a son of Emma with father unknown.
