Dick and Jean first met at “Head of the River Race” on Saturday, the 5th of May 1934 held on the Parramatta River. The Aitken’s and the Whaite’s families were introduced to each other at this event by someone know to both families. Harry Whaite attended Sydney Boys High but reason Aitken family attended not known.
