MemoA retired Blacksmith who was 76 years old. The causes of death were Myocardial degeneration, 10 years & heart failure 30 days. His parents were Alexander McAlister, a Distiller & Jean Currie. He was born in Campbeltown, Argyll, Scotland and been in New Zealand 58 years [53 actually arriving 1878]. He was married at age 26 to Margaret Aiken who was dead prior to 1931. He had 5 children living with birth records showing 6 children being born. From the ages of children noted one daughter had died prior to this date either Mary Jane of 1899 or Margaretta Ella of 1900, the latter being more likely as death record has not been found in New Zealand and require further research {@ Dec 2013].
