Catherine born 1807 (not 1817)

The birth dates quoted are not correct but relatively close to this families.
but no one fitting daughter Catherine although there was a Jonathan born 1844.
ChildrenMary Ann (1838-1914)

Notes for Catherine DAY
Census of 1851 says she was born Sheerness Kent.
Notes for William (Spouse 1)

The 1841 census has a John Bray, age 25, living with the family. He is presumably a younger brother of William

William wrote a letter of consent for marriage of daughter Catherine (Feb 1862) in Melbourne about 10 days before wedding. This suggested he & probably the family were in Melbourne at that time which was subsequently confirmed.

No entry in England census after 1851 were found for William & family.

Aarrivals Melbourne
William’s death record suggests he came to Victoria circa 1853. Catherine’s suggested she arrived circa 1855.

Two possibilies for William have been found

1) BRAY WM 42 DEC 1852 SYRIA B 222
2) BRAY WILLIAM CAPT - APR 1853 LOCH LOMOND from British port age=35 page 1 fiche 35 (Ship Master)
