Myra was daughter William & Ann Spurway and Ann must have been a sibling of this William Hart for Myra to be a niece. The Perry family is also related to the Bovett family. Williams’s second wife was married to William Bovett (her first husband) and Rebecca Bovett married a John Perry. William Bovett’s father Thomas was the brother of James who was Rebecca’s father.
This is the only evidence found that this is this William, so not 100% certain although date is fairly accurate as not found in 1901 census.

Cause of death is recorded as bronchitis & dropsy. He daughter Phoebe Hart was in attendance at Jews Court, Smythen Street, Exeter.

Notes for William HART
Neice Myra Perry is recorded as witness on death certificate of William and have traced her back to William Hart. Myra’s mother Anne Hart Batstone born Devon circa 1815 is almost certainly William’s sister Ann. The name Batsone is shown on parish record of Ann’s marriage so either Ann married prior to marrying John Perry or the entry is in error or refers to a witness or something.

See research summary in “PERRY & HART connection.pdf”
Notes for Eliza Jane (Spouse 1)
Eliza Records is quoted as Edward James HART’S mother on his marriage certificate to Catherine Bray.
Notes for William & Eliza Jane (Family)
Some other researchers have this William Hart marrying an Eliza Aplin in Uffculme on 9 OCT 1836. This seems unlikely as Uffculme is some 37 km for Southleigh. Other researchers suggest Eliza Aplin married a William Hart born around 1817 in Hemyock which is less than 9 km from Uffculme so seems more likely. The children of this latter marriage differ from the family recorded here. The fact that this William Hart was from Southleigh and our William Hart married Eliza Records in Southleigh points to this being the correct family. Further Colyton is in the Parish of Southleigh and Colyton is the place recorded as son Edward’s birth on his marriage to Catherine Bray.

The marriage of William & Eliza’s son Edward shows Edward’s mother as Eliza Records. Thus this confirms Eliza Records was the wife of William.
